HRD- Earth Hour- turn off your switches for an hour

SJU-S/033/2012-13                                                                                                                          March 22, 2013

Dear Parents,

On Saturday, 23 March, 2013 at 8.30 p.m., Universal Group of Education, will join hundreds of millions of people across the globe in switching off the lights and other electronic gadgets of all our institutes and our homes for one hour….EARTH HOUR, the world's largest public action for the environment. By taking part in this GLOBAL LIGHTS OFF event, we will be acknowledging our commitment to personal and operational actions that make our world a better place in the years to come.

We would like to invite you, as our valued partners, to join us too in this global movement. EARTH HOUR is much, much more than a symbolic action of switching off lights for an hour. It is a continuous movement driving actions, big and small, that are changing the world we live in.

We need to model and also teach children under our care to be responsible global citizens and play significant roles to make and live in a world which will be a better place.

We have listed a few activities which you and your family can take up easily at your homes and in your lives which will eventually make real changes and impact in the world.

Will not use our car on this day and use public transport instead.
Will use a car pool often, for going to work or dropping children to school
Will stop smoking (IF you do) for at least two days, and try to give up smoking eventually
Will use reusable shopping bags
Will organise a clean up drive in our building/locality
Will use rechargeable batteries
Will plant at least 10 baby trees in my building garden
Will promote awareness about clean environment
Will not use thin plastic bags at all
Will not use plastic bottles, glasses and straws
Will pick up at least 20 trash pieces for a week
Will donate money for some good environment cause
Will, always switch off fans and lights when not in use.

This is an opportunity for you to take action for the environment, inspire others with your actions and spark off conversations to make real, lasting impact beyond the earth hour.

Lead the Way: Care, Dare and Share. WE WILL ……IF YOU WILL,

If you and your family take up some significant actions, share with us, if get convinced, we promise some very pleasant and surprising incentives for your child and your family from us.

Together, we can all turn the inspiration of one hour into the action of every hour.

Together, In the cause of Good Education,

Yours truly,
